Do you need a licence and to be seventeen to take the driving theory test?

Jane from Denbigh asks: Does my nephew need to apply for a provisional license before taking the theory test? Also can he take the theory test before he is 17?

Yes you do need to hold a provisional licence which for driving cars you will need to meet the minimum age of seventeen.  However your nephew can start to learn and prepare for his theory test before his seventeenth birthday and is welcome to make use of resources on this site.  Remember if he chooses a InstructorNow! driving instructor or school he will be eligible to use the supplementary lesson plans available in the Learn Now! section of the site.
